Hometown : Denton,
Texas....but we live in Austin Texas
When, where and how did the band come
together
About 10 years ago, the band got together in order to play house
shows with bands that we liked that were coming through our sleepy
little town..
Best description of your sound to
someone who is yet to hear you would be...
Somewhere in a location where garage, punk, pop, rock and new wave
meet we stand on shakey legs...
Someone who isn't too familiar with
your stuff, which release would you suggest they start with?
Our new record "Underneath the Owl" because it's where the band
is at right now..
What is your latest release, give
it a plug, tell us about it.
Underneath the Owl. It will change your life. Its much more effective
then Scientology for the clearing of engrams and thetans.
Favourite song to play live.. and
why?
Robots may Break your Heart. It is kind of different and has a different
beat... Its just new to us and really fun....I think evolving constantly
is important as an artist and always kinda wanna look forward.
If you could go back in time and write any one song.. what would
it be..
Wow... So many.... Paint it Black. Search and Destroy. Astro Zombies.
I think it would take way too long of a brainstorming session to
narrow it down to one song....Plus if we have achieved time-travel
there are all kinds of sporting events I will be busy betting on....
Most memorable moment / best achievement
with the band to date would be...
Having Bruce Springsteen smile while watching us play.
Have you toured with any of the Soundwave
bands before? If so, give us a quick story..
We were out with Bedouin Soundclash on the Warped Tour. They are
awesome guys and an amazing band. Not to mention stylish dressers.
The whole Warped Tour kind of melds together into a sweaty, sleepless
summer. It was good to have those guys there. Both bands while totally
different kind of stuck out compared to all the screamo-emo-pop
bands. i feel like we kind of bonded on that.
Which bands on the Soundwave lineup
are you most likely to be found partying with after the show?
Bedouin for sure. The Alkaline Trio dudes stayed at my house in
Denton a few times before they became the massive band that they
are. I wonder if they'll remember. You know...we are down to party
with anyone who is cool..
Who in your band is the party animal?
Give us a quick story on antics of the past..
Not me. I am boring... The other guys all have party-skills that
I shall never hope to have. They took online courses and got PHDs
on the subject.
You haven't been to Australia before...
What have you been told to expect by fans / other bands etc
So excited! I have no idea what to expect.... I hope ya'll will
dig it. As the progressive people you are I think you will....
Thing you are most looking forward
to about coming to Australia this summer?
Its February and it is winter over here.... so just the fact that
we are totally bailing on our winter is something I am really looking
forward to. Believe it or not it gets really cold in Texas... We
are gonna cheat the weather!
Is there anything you "just have
to do" while you are in Australia?
I'm gonna fuck me a kangaroo.
If the rider fairy was to grant you
one wish, what would be awaiting you backstage at the festival..
Besides the aformentioned kangaroo, a massage chair and someone
with strong fingers, an Xbox 360 and really good japanese food.
You should catch us when we play Soundwave
because..
if you miss it you'll never forgive yourself and neither will your
future children. They will resent you and steal anything not nailed
down.
Any Final words...
We can't wait to perform for you... |
