When, where and how did the band come
together : The band has previous members from the
movielife, further seems forever, scraps and heart attacks, and
project 208. We were all connected by touring together in the past
and the punk scene in general. We have members from new york, virginia,
florida, and Minnesota. We all decided to move into Brooklyn , ny
to all be in the same city and start the band. We’ve now been
a band for 4 years and have all the same members we started with.
Best description of your sound to
someone who is yet to hear you would be... we play
melodic punk music. live sets are an extremely fun , energetic and
positive experience. Our influences range from jawbreaker to the
libertines to the pixies, to NOFX, to the beatles.
Someone who isn't too familiar with
your stuff, which release would you suggest they start with?
we only have one record out. Its a self titled release on drive
thru records. We plan to record our sophomore effort before we come
to soundwave.
What is your latest release, give
it a plug, tell us about it. be on the lookout for
a new record a few months after soundwave.
Favourite song to play live.. and
why? I took a beating. I cannot wait to play it
at soundwave. Its a fast song made for a live setting. Tons of circle
pits and stage dives!
If you could go back in time and
write any one song.. what would it be.. Weekend
wars from mgmt. Its absolutely brilliant in every way.
Most memorable moment / best achievement
with the band to date would be... My favorite time
in the band has been the tour we did with no use for a name in japan.
every time our music brings us to exotic place to perform we take
a second to be thankful for the life we’ve made for ourselves.
We have never been to Australia and we are going to make the most
of every moment we are there, on and off the stage.
Have you toured with any of the Soundwave
bands before? If so, give us a quick story.. We’ve
toured with Finch, silverstein, evergreen terrace, bayside, the
audition. Our previous bands have also toured with new found glory,
face to face, anberlin, funeral for a friend, goldfinger , so its
safe to say we will be traveling your country among close friends.
Bayside taught us queens Olympics (queens, ny) , it involves drinking
beer and being able to perform obstacles , usually made up by jack
from bayside, while drinking in a hotel room and being cheered on
by your friends. Bayside and i am the avalanche are going to bring
the queens Olympics down under!
Which bands on the Soundwave lineup
are you most likely to be found partying with after the show?
Bayside, the audition, finch, say anything, Valencia and of course
all of the new friends we make. Y’all better have some good
beer. Our livers have been in training and are in top form.
Who in your band is the party animal?
Give us a quick story on antics of the past.. kellen,
our bass player, recently went missing on tour and we had to leave
for the next show. We called the police, his girl, anyone who may
have heard from him(or arrested him). In the final hour, he emerged
from a hotel room . the beds were made, he had no key, he didn’t
pay for the room, and he has no idea how he got there. We all have
a great time and party a lot. After our job is done of course. Ok
a little bit during it to!
You haven't been to Australia before...
What have you been told to expect by fans / other bands etc
we haven’t. We have only heard the best reviews from our friends
bands that have. It sounds like one of the best places in the world
to tour. We will do our best to make a great impression so we can
keep coming back.
Thing you are most looking forward
to about coming to Australia this summer? touring
with tons of amazing bands we love and respect, soak up the sun
as it will be winter in ny where we are from, adding to the list
of adventures we’ve been through together, meeting the aussie
fans finally!
