When, where and how did the band come
together
We all came together in LA around 93/94 and started playing shows,
writing music.
Best description of your sound to
someone who is yet to hear you would be...
Pop/punk/ska/metal/reggae. Pretty eclectic mix of
styles but mostly pop/punk.
Someone who isn't too familiar with
your stuff, which release would you suggest they start with?
Our self titled in 96 would be a great place to start. Our new CD
(Hello Destiny) is also a great intro to our band.
What is your latest release, give
it a plug, tell us about it.
The CD is called Hello Destiny and in my opinion is a return to
form for the band. After our self titled we started to experiment
with different sounds/styles and some of our fans didn’t dig it
but with Hello Destiny it seems like we have the fans back and it
feels great.
Favourite song to play live.. and
why?
There’s a song on our second CD (Hang Ups) called Chris Cayton that
I LOVE to play live. It mixes pop, punk, ska and reggae all in one
4 minute song.
If you could go back in time and write
any one song.. what would it be..
Wow…..great question!! Hmmmm…I would have love to have written I’m
Too Sexy by Right Sad Fred… Just kidding. I would have loved to
write Yesterday by The Beatles.
Most memorable moment / best achievement
with the band to date would be...
Probably playing this HUGE festival in Washington DC called the
WHFestival. It was in 1996 and we played AFTER the Foo Fighters
(believe it or not) and we played in front of around 50,000 people.
It was INSANE!! We’ve played big festivals since them but that was
our first really big festival.
Have you toured with any of the Soundwave
bands before? If so, give us a quick story..
Of course, we’ve toured with Less Than Jake recently in the US over
the summer (which was great). We’ve played one offs with New Found
Glory as well as Face To Face.
Which bands on the Soundwave lineup
are you most likely to be found partying with after the show?
Well, seeing as I live in Toronto Canada I think I’m gonna hang
with my good friends in Billy Talent. Great, GREAT band…..and like
me they like beer.
Who in your band is the party animal?
Give us a quick story on antics of the past..
I would have to say me as I’m the only member of the band that drinks….ha
ha. Man, I’ve done SOOOOO many fucked up stuff when I was drunk.
Beating up a cop in Pittsburgh comes to mind. I went to jail for
the night (big shock) in my wet gig clothes. The charges were dropped.
You've been to Australia before, what's
the memory most stuck in your mind...
Oh yeah, we’ve played there many times, getting drunk on VB SOOO
many times. Oh yeah… the shows have always been KILLER!!
Thing you are most looking forward
to about coming to Australia this summer?
That’s a weird question because Feb. is our winter. Have to remember
that our summers/winters are switched. Really looking forward to
the shows of course but am also looking forward to meeting and hanging
with a lot of the bands. That… and getting drunk on VB. Man that
beer is good!!
Is there anything you "just have to
do" while you are in Australia?
(See VB comment).
If the rider fairy was to grant you
one wish, what would be awaiting you backstage at the festival..
Hookers!!! And lots of em!!! J/K. I would LOVE the VB to be on ice
(of course). That, and as much veggie food as possible.
You should catch us when we play Soundwave
because..
We have an incredibly energetic live show and we always give 100000000000000%
when we play live. Oh yeah, and I usually get naked at some point
during the show.
Any Final words...
When we heard about the festival and saw the list of bands we were
playing with we got really excited. The shows are going to be great.
See ya in Feb. 09 folks. |
