When,
where and how did the band come together
: We got together through mutual friends on the South Wales Hardcore
and Metal scenes. Over the years we've changed a few members here
and there and initially only started the band as something to do
on the weekends away from our usual day jobs.
Best description of your sound to
someone who is yet to hear you would be... hmm,
probably energetic and hard driven rock and roll. We have so many
influences that make up our sound that it's really hard for us to
define it and if we went through the whole list of what we think
we sounded like i think we'd run out of pages pretty quick.
Someone who isn't too familiar with
your stuff, which release would you suggest they start with?
The new record i guess would be a good place to start as it's the
newest thing we've done. And in my opinion it represents all aspects
of what the band does musically across the board.
What is your latest release, give
it a plug, tell us about it. Haha, i think i've
done it already in the question above. It's called Memory and Humanity
and it's released off our own backs on our own label here in the
UK. It's probably the best thing we've done so far, really represents
where we are as a band right now. It's big, bold and hit like a
hammer but embraces you with a sweet softness that will make you
feel kind of cozy.
Favourite song to play live.. and
why? For me it would have to be Roses For the Dead,
it's such a dynamic song and feels really good to play on stage.
If you could go back in time and
write any one song.. what would it be.. That's a
hard one, probably We Are The Champions by Queen. Such a great song
and uplifts anyone who hears it.
Most memorable moment / best achievement
with the band to date would be... Probably releasing
our new record on our own label, it's taken some hard work but it's
been worth it and it's been a lot of fun to be in control of every
aspect of what you do as a band.
Have you toured with any of the Soundwave
bands before? If so, give us a quick story.. We've
toured with a few of them. We played with Less Than Jake a few years
ago on the Project Revolution tour in the USA and they were great
guy's and fun to watch live. We played an off day show with them
and i got up the nerve to run on stage and song one of their songs
My Own Flag with them, that was alot of fun.
Which bands on the Soundwave lineup
are you most likely to be found partying with after the show?
We're not really a party band to be honest, but we would probably
find ourselves chilling with either the Anberlin guy's or maybe
even the Less Than Jake fellas.
Who in your band is the party animal?
Give us a quick story on antics of the past..
Our guitarist Kris tends to be the one who gets into trouble, one
time he was so wasted he fell face first into some dogs mess. He
was so out of it that he waited for it to dry before he started
picking it out of his beard. Messed up.
You have been to Australia before...What's
the memory most stuck in your mind... Just the weather
and the kids, so energetic and fun. The last time we were there
on tour we played Perth and just about everyone in the audience
got up on stage with us. There were even girls in cocktail dresses
on stage taking pictures on their phones. The whole country is chilled
and we all love it. We would play there all the time if we could.
Thing you are most looking forward
to about coming to Australia this summer? Hanging
out with friends and basking in the Australian summer. it's gonna
be awesome.
Is there anything you "just
have to do" while you are in Australia? Pretty
much visit the set of Neighbours (which we did) and pet a Koala
bear.
If the rider fairy was to grant you
one wish, what would be awaiting you backstage at the festival..
Probably our own Koala bears, they're pretty awesome.
You should catch us when we play
Soundwave because.. we're gonna own every minute
that we're on stage and we're gonna blow your minds with our sonic
weaponry.
Any Final words... thanks
for taking the time out for the interview and we'll see everyone
