When, where and how did the band come
together :
When was 1993. Where was my basement. How was that Jim discovered
that the tone of his farts was a perfect harmonic fifth above the
tone of mine. A band was born.
Best description of your sound to
someone who is yet to hear you would be...
How to put this in a language your readers can relate to…
Sort of like the unpleasant noises emitted by a wallaby as it’s
getting whacked down the street by a didgeridoo.
Someone who isn't too familiar with
your stuff, which release would you suggest they start with?
“Lost in Love” by Air Supply.
What is your latest release, give
it a plug, tell us about it. Our last release was
a single so horrific that even fans who downloaded it illegally
were pissed that we ripped them off.
Favourite song to play live.. and
why? Whichever one is sixth in the set, because
it occurs after the euphoric effects of the alcohol kick in, yet
before it causes the diarrhea.
If you could go back in time and write
any one song.. what would it be.. Dr. Heckyll and
Mr. Jive
Most memorable moment / best achievement
with the band to date would be... Once we were honored
in Germany by winning their equivalent of a Grammy award, only I
missed being on stage to receive it because I was in back taking
a crap. “Taking a crap” being a colloquialism for “passed
out in the bathroom stall.”
Have you toured with any of the Soundwave
bands before? If so, give us a quick story.. We
used to tour with Goldfinger a lot. One time when we were at the
Roxy in Los Angeles, Kelly Lemeiux, knowing what a huge Ramones
fan I am, told me that Dee Dee Ramone was walking his dog down on
the corner. He took me down and introduced me to him, which was
a huge honor and thrill, at least until I realized he was hepped
up on something, because he told me how cool his dog was, and that
I should talk to him, then Dee Dee sort of wandered off muttering
to himself and left me there to have a conversation with his dog.
I no longer want to meet anyone I’ve admired.
Which bands on the Soundwave lineup are you most likely
to be found partying with after the show? The first
one we encounter that knows how to freebase Eucalyptus leaves.
Who in your band is the party animal?
Give us a quick story on antics of the past.. I
don’t know if this makes him a party animal, but Jimmy Pop
(our singer) has a tendency to sometimes drink to the point where
he will piss and shit his bunk. After waking up in a pool of his
own release, he usually makes our tour assistant switch bunks with
him so he can sleep in a dry bed while the assistant has to lie
on Jim’s fouled mattress.
You've been to Australia before ,
what's the memory most stuck in your mind... All
of the adventures we got into down there ended up just like an episode
of “Home and Away.”
Thing you are most looking forward
to about coming to Australia this summer? The twenty
six hour flight where we’ll get to enjoy back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to
back Julia Roberts films.
Is there anything you "just have
to do" while you are in Australia? Recreate
that scene out of “Mad Max” where Cundalini gets his
hand ripped off.
If the rider fairy was to grant you
one wish, what would be awaiting you backstage at the festival..
Mel Gibson, in the midst of an anti-Semitic tirade.
You should catch us when we play Soundwave
because.. Our chosen lifestyle makes it an almost
certainty that one or all of the band members will die some horrible
alcohol or tobacco related death before we make it back to Australia
again.
Any Final words... I
think I speak for the entire band when I say I would still do that
broad from “Crocodile Dundee,” I don’t care how
fat she’s gotten. |
