Hometown : I'm from
Vancouver and Eon and Pat are from Toronto
When, where and how did the band
come together
We all met seven years ago at school. I was into older punk music,
I became friends with Eon and he introduced me to reggae which I
was only slightly aware of through The Specials and The Clash. We
started trading records and then eventually started writing some
songs together. Pat heard a tape through a friend and Bedouin Soundclash
became a band.
Best description of your sound to
someone who is yet to hear you would be...
People getting beyond stereotypes and genres.
Someone who isn't too familiar with
your stuff, which release would you suggest they start with?
I guess Sounding a Mosaic because it is the best known material.
What is your latest release, give
it a plug, tell us about it.
Our latest record is Street Gospels, produced by D Jenifer of Bad
Brains. We had Money Mark playing keys and its a reggae gospel feel.
Favourite song to play live.. and
why?
My favourite song right now is Bells of 59, I wrote it when my grandparents
passed away and it makes time for me to remember them every once
in a while when I'm playing.
If you could go back in time and write
any one song.. what would it be..
hmmmm. King Harvest by the Band, or Concrete Jungle, or Hurricane
by Dylan.
Most memorable moment / best achievement
with the band to date would be...
being together today and being alive and well.
Which bands on the Soundwave lineup
are you most likely to be found partying with after the show?
I like bands that are punctual and don't make too many grammatical
errors.
Who in your band is the party animal?
Give us a quick story on antics of the past..
We have all had terrible days and moments, and we have all recovered.
Unfortunately, with the advent of facebook, some things we will
never be able to forget. But, you will need to forgive us for not
ever telling you.
You have you been to Australia before,
what's the memory most stuck in your mind...
Byron Beach was incredible, we played the Blues and Roots festival
and felt like we were millions of miles from any worries. I also
really like how open and friendly Aussie's can be, it reminded me
of Canadians.
Thing you are most looking forward
to about coming to Australia this summer?
I look forward to going to your summer while its my winter. Have
you ever been to Canada?
Is there anything you "just have to
do" while you are in Australia?
I would like to sit by a bush telly with a case of goon and contemplate
my prospects of staying there longer.
If the rider fairy was to grant you
one wish, what would be awaiting you backstage at the festival...
an Australian Citizenship card.
You should catch us when we play Soundwave
because...
we really care about you, and we don't like being alone.
Any Final words...
I would ask all Bogans to give us a chance. |
