RAISED BY WOLVES
EQUALITY

Available now on Metric | Shock Records

The name of our album is
: Equality

How did the name come about? You need a lot more of it in the world, so we thought we'd make a start.

It was released on April 10th on Metric / Shock Records

We recorded it at Debasement Studios, Melbourne

Tell us a bit about the studio and why you chose to record there? Studio owner JT (BugDust) and long time friend and band co-member Adam Coles are living legends, they are actually living jedis.

We recorded it with See above. Mixing was done at Blasting Room Studios. Fort Collins, Colorado, by his highness Bill Stevenson. Mastering was done at West West, New York, by the lovely Mr. Alan Douches.

Tell us a bit about the engineer / producer and why you chose to record with them? Bill Stevenson. Enough said.

Tell us about the writing / pre-production process, how long did it take and how did you go about it? We had established 90% of the record before hitting the studio so we had a solid foundation of what we wanted to achieve. The track 'Living Nightmare' was polished off in the studio itself so some ideas did come about in the recording process. I guess we spent 3 months working on the bulk of the album. JT and Colesy provided some expert and well recieved ideas in the studio which added some lovely garnish to the recording. Oooh.

It took us roughly 5 days to record it.

Tell us a bit about the recording process the band used. Each band member tracked separately to pro tools, drums and bass being completed relativley quickly. Guitars and Vocals required some more attention to truley acheive the sounds and harmonies we had planned in our heads. Once we were done here in melbourne, digital copies were sent to the States where around a further 2 weeks of man hours was put into tweaking the tracks and creating the final product.

Gear wise, was there anything outside your usual live equipment used? Not grossly. Trent experimented with some different drums and snares made by Adam Cole himself (Gas Drums). They're masterpeices and they have a massive early Nirvava kind of sound to them. Jesse's amp/guitar setup was unchanged from the live sound. I used my regular Mashall's for the dirty tracks, however used Soldarno Heads for some clean and less distorted guitar sounds. Some effects were used on vocals in some segments for a fuller sound.

Any memorable moments during the process that stood out? I wish i did have a hilarious story but, cant really think of any. Nothing more adventurous than 6 good friends getting together to make a punk rock album!

Who took care of the artwork and why you chose to use them? Tundra Interactive were doing our website at the time so we started with the basic commie/constructivism elements they had submitted for the web and had one of our Argentinean mates Mariano tweak it till everyone was happy. We chose them cause they're all absolute gurus at what they do.

Now that it's ready for release, what can we expect from the final package? No bullshit punk rock that conveys clear messages and opinions.

Do you have a favourite track on the album? Living Nightmare (Track 10)

How would you compare the album to your previous recordings? This is our cherry popper baby. im a green belt.
