IT BEGINS!

And so, Soundwave begins, Brisbane being first cab off the rank, the latest news is as follows.
- From Autumn To Ashes will not play in Brisbane or Sydney Soundwaves, A close friend of the band passed away this week, and they will begin the tour supporting Killswitch Engage in Sydney on Tuesday, and play all shows from then on.
- Still Remains have had weather affected flights getting here and will also not arrive in time for Brisbane or Sydney Soundwave, they will also begin the tour at their Sydney sideshow.
Bands on stage 4 in Brisbane & Sydney affected by these withdrawls will be given longer sets to make up the time. Check the stage timetables as you arrive to see the changes.
- City And Colour fans please note that in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, Dallas will directly swap playing times with As Tall As Lions to allow more time between C&C and Alexisonfire sets. Check the timetables and adjust your plans as necessary.

- Madina Lake & Halifax will play at NEXT in Melbourne on Thursday 28th Feb, members of The Matches and Still Remains will guest DJ. $10 get's you in from 8pm.
- Divine Heresy will do an instore signing at Utopia Records in Sydney on Monday 25th Feb @ 5.00pm.

SIDEWAVES AHOY!

So you'd know by now a heap of acts are doing sideshows to compliment their Soundwave performances, your chance to catch them play a little longer perhaps in a smaller environment, maybe they are bands you miss on the day due to clashes.. Anyway tickets are on-sale now for all Side-Wave shows, you can get full details [Here]. One such show next week is the teaming up of Dear Hunter, Kevin Devine, As Tall As Lions, MeWithoutYou & My American Heart at Sydney's Gaelic Club on Monday Feb 25th [Lic/AA] and Melbourne's Billboard, The Venue on Tuesday 26th [18+]. SIDEWAVE UPDATE

With the late withdrawal of The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus from Soundwave, an adequate replacement will not be possible on such late notice, this will mean extended sets for a few of the bands on the festival, including Thursday. It has also meant the cancellation of the two Sidewave shows RJA were set to headline, refunds available from point of purchase for those. Boys Like Girls will now be added to the Sidewaves featuring The Starting Line, Plain White T's, All Time Low and Socratic. Tix are on sale now for those. Read More for a reminder of the dates.

BRISBANE TICKET RELEASE

As you'd know by now, both Sydney and Brisbane Soundwave events have sold out, and just like Sydney did, a small batch of tickets have been held back for Brisbane to save you having to pay inflated scalper prices. There will be only 100 tickets released for Brisbane Soundwave this Thursday at 9am Brisbane time. These are print at home tickets only. These will be available from the ticketing link off the Soundwave website. This is your last chance, so don't miss out!

RED JUMPSUIT APPARATUS CANCEL

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus have decided to hit the studio to commence recording their new album, rather than appear at their already scheduled Australian tour dates, which means they have cancelled their appearance on the Soundwave Festival and headline sideshows. SOUNDWAVE SYDNEY SELLS OUT

The organisers of Soundwave 08 are pleased to announce that the Sydney instalment of the festival is now sold out. To deter scalpers and profiteers the festival has held back a few hundred tickets that will be released in weekly instalments from next Thursday 10 January. These tickets will only be available via the Festival website at www.soundwavefestival.com. Please note there will be no tickets for sale at the door in Sydney. Don't say you weren't warned! Other states take this as your final warning to hurry along and grab your tickets!

THURSDAY JOIN SOUNDWAVE

New Jersey outfit Thursday are the latest additions to the lineup for the upcoming Soundwave Festival. They join the lineup replacing Chiodos who recently withdrew. Thursday's latest release is their 'Kill The House Lights' CD/DVD package which was released in October through Victory Records. Thursday were last seen on our shores in 2006 on the Taste Of Chaos shows. Tickets are still available, but you'll need to get onto it fast!

On hiatus since 2000, Soundwave Festival is bringing you the all star line up of Infectious Grooves. Headed by Suicidal Tendencies front man Mike Muir, Infectious Grooves will be bringing their unique brand of funk metal and giving Aussie audiences the first sneak peak at the much anticipated 5th album as they join the huge lineup that will do the rounds next Feb/March. Unfortunately the lure of a US tour with Linkin Park is too much for Coheed And Cambria who have withdrawn from the festival (click Read More for their statement), filling their shoes on the festival are popular visitors to our shores, from Canada, Alexisonfire. A couple more bands will be announced very shortly as replacements for Social Distortion. Tickets are selling fast, Brisbane and Sydney in particular are close to selling out, so if you don't have a ticket yet, don't wait for Santa to load it in your sack, pick it up now!

For those sitting tight waiting for the 2nd announcement, you'll have to wait just a tad longer for the full compliment, but we are pleased as punch to inform you that joining the lineup is City And Colour, which is Dallas Green from Alexisonfire. A couple of other changes, As Tall As Lions will now be playing full band as opposed to just member Dan Nigro solo and unfortunately Ace Enders has withdrawn due to US commitments. Sit tight because there is more to come early next week! Tix are on sale now if you don't have yours yet, get a move on.

For those who registered for the early-bird tickets to Soundwave in Adelaide and Perth, or those travelling along for the shows, your chance at the discounted early tickets happens from 6pm today as they go on sale, check your inbox for instructions and the link to purchase if you registered.
In other Soundwave news unfortunately Social Distortion have cancelled their appearance without much reason, they said "Due to circumstances beyond our control, Social Distortion is regrettably unable to perform at Soundwave Festival 2008 in Australia and must officially withdraw from the bill. We apologize for any inconvenience to our Australian fans and hope to make it there as soon as possible."
If you missed out on early-bird tickets, the general public allocation of tickets will be on sale from 9am this Friday from the Soundwave website or Ticketmaster online / outlets /phone.

With more people registering than there are tickets available you can expect some possible delays in the process as thousands of people all try and do the same thing at once while the system can only process a select number of transactions at a time to avoid it crashing, so be patient and your chance will arrive! Punk legends The Offspring and Social Distortion will team up with rockers Incubus to head up a massive bill that includes 39 international acts from all kinds of genres. From the powerful metal sounds of Killswitch Engage to the ever so catchy sounds of Motion City Soundtrack and Plain White T's. Throw Mindless Self Indulgence and Coheed And Cambria to the mix and you'd think just about everything was covered. Then you'll find some of your favourite artists stripped back for an acoustic stage including Jim from Sparta, Dan from As Tall As Lions, Ace Enders from The Early November and more! Some of the hottest up and coming names also join the bill, you've heard of Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Chiodos, Socratic, My American Heart and The Dear Hunter, but you haven't seen them on our shores yet!
