| If
Bradley was still alive, and this album was released as
"Sublime II", it would be a massive hit. Scotty
Don't have really stepped up to the plate with an album
that is going to please a lot of people. There are many
who have tried their hand at this style, but none have
really nailed it as well as these guys have with this
one. I think once people catch on, these lads won't just
be known as that Sublime Tribute band. An amazing voice,
backed up by solid tunes, it's impossible to fault an
album that hits like this one does. |

WHO?
Scotty Don't have spent their life in the shadows. They double as
'Badfish', a band who plays tribute shows to Sublime to packed venues
all across America. Scotty Don't is their outlet for their original
material and often open up for the Sublime tribute show. In the
past their original material left a little to be desired, with this
full length, they aim to really solidify their original side.
WHAT?
Given their likeness to Sublime, and in particular singer Pat Downes
sounding pretty much exactly like Brad Nowell, it's no surprise
at all to put this album in, and instantly think you are listening
to Sublime. First thing on this one you notice is the production,
a huge step up from their previous releases, and you can credit
that to Paul Leary, the Butthole Surfers guitarist who did alot
of the Sublime recordings. Don't write these guys off as a direct
rip off though, they do have their own vibe generating, and over
these 15 songs touch on quite a few different styles. 'Back Porch'
has the potential to be one of those "summer hits", 'So
Easy' will have you moving to the groove, 'Everything's Alright'
is a feel good number, 'Fallin Down' is a simple but effective punk
rock track, and so it goes on. The band has really stepped up the
songwriting and hopefully this album gets heard by all the right
ears, because it really is sensational. It's got enough energy and
vibe to keep you interested throughout, but at the same time can
serve as an album you can kick back and chill to. 15 tracks is a
lot for albums these days, but this one easily holds your attention,
there are no dull moments
