takes a few listens before the hooks sink right in, but
they do end up landing on the mark. One for the indie
fans for the most part, songs like 'On Your Records' have
a nice commercial type vibe about it, reminding me a little
of some Plain White T's type power-pop. Lots of great
work vocally that is only bound to get better over time.
Chilled out, glossy (without being cheesy), infectious
pop music to tap your feet along too. Nice work for a
debut. |

WHO?
Alex, Tim, Lachy, and John
Hail
from the coastal town of Terrigal and make up Slow Down Honey. A
band of scruffy young guys, writing, jamming and performing music
that doesn't exactly reflect the empty beaches and quiet roads of
their hometown in New South Wales. Slow
Down Honey believe in the 3-minute pop song. They
offer a nod to the history of the genre… while busting it wide open.
WHAT?
Their debut EP In the Picture unleashes
a crackling, electric blend of catchy melodies and layered harmonies
that find an unexpected meeting place in the sounds of Elvis Costello,
The Cars and Wilco, with a good measure of the Clash thrown in to
speed things along. The band has spent the past year writing, jamming,
and playing small seaside pubs and private parties. They insist
that their main focus be the music; as Alex puts it, “we’ve got
an Aussie work ethic. It’s just no bullshit, no gimmicks, straight
down the line songwriting.”
WHERE?
'In The Picture' will be released in Australia on Friday June 5th
on Universal Music. You'll be able to grab it in all good music
stores and online stores.

Slow Down Honey will be launching the EP on the road as they tour
