| I
like a band who can be constantly active at pumping out
new music, especially when they outdo themselves each
time they put something new out. Hopefully this is just
one of many more quality releases in the future. They
are catching up quickly to those who set the mark before
them, who knows where they will take it, you could be
listening to the next flag bearers for Aussie punk rock. |

WHO?
Lungs are a three piece punk outfit that hail out of Sydney and
are not afraid to pump out releases, this one being their third
in about a 2 year period, which is great to see. This EP was recorded
by Lachlan Mitchell who also did their 'An Anatomical Guide' album
and once again released through Poison City Records.
WHAT?
A five track EP is what's served up by Lungs this time around, like
the album was a step-up from the debut EP, this one is another step-up
from the album, which was a ripper, so they've done well to follow
that up so nicely. Things are always going to be great when the
first pick slide only takes 7 seconds to appear, and right after
that, it's just blistering punk rock for the whole 45 seconds of
'Radical Science', The pace stays fast all the way through as their
guitar heavy noise makes love to your ears. They have one of the
most full sounds going around for a three piece, and a natural one
which is another good thing, no overuse of any studio tools and
trickery, they keep it realistic and easy to replicate live. There
are no dull moments, just good solid tunes from one of the best
the country has to offer at the moment.
WHY?
It's about time in the cycle for this brand of melodic punk to poke
it's head through once more, and who knows, Lungs could be the band
that leads the charge, check it out, five tracks, all quality, you'd
be a hard one to please if this doesn't entertain you.
WHEN?
The EP is available now on Poison City Records
