WHO?
Tumbledown is the alt.country side project for MxPx mainman Mike
Herrera. Recorded in Mike's home studio and mixed by Descendents
/ ALL legend Stephen Egerton. Also featuring Jack Parker and Marshall
& Harley Trotland the end result, a punk meets country and western
swagger.
WHAT?
There's no mistaking Mike's vocal sound, instantly recognizable,
just not so often heard without distorted guitars and fast drumming
blaring out behind him in the past. The song styles are quite varied
on this album which keeps you interested throughout wondering what
will be coming next. Hints of rockabilly, straight up country all
coated in a punk energy makes for a very listenable bunch of tracks.
Guest female vocals pop up and also sound a treat. From the first
time the chorus of 'Let's Drink' hits your ears, you'll find your
foot tapping along, head nodding and mouth ready to sing along next
time it rolls around. 'Break Out Of History' will have you ready
to hoedown, while you'll be imagining a campfire sing along for
'Movin' On'. It's a fun album, something that certainly won't be
for everyone, however I think the majority of listeners will find
something in it for them. Don't let the word 'country' keep you
away from giving it a go, Mike's done a fine job with this album,
we already knew he can write a great pop punk song, now we get to
see a different side.
WHY?
Everyone needs an album you can whack on, and just chill out to,
whether you be relaxing with a beer, or just want something different
from what you usually treat your ears to. Tumbledown might just
be that album you reach for.
WHEN & WHERE?
In the US the album will be released through End Sounds on May 19th,
no Australian details are available, however you can order a copy
through Interpunk now [Here]
