THE BAND
What's the story behind the band name?

The Gaslight was where Bob Dylan and other folk singers played in the 60's in New York City when they were just starting out, and the Anthem is the central idea of that vibe there.

When did the band begin and how did it come about?
We began officially in Jan of 2006, we all just met through people we knew around New Brunswick.

How would you describe your sound to the average Joe on the street?
We're a soul band played by punk rockers.

What's your current release? Tell us a little about it…
Senor and the Queen is a 4 song EP that we feel is the start of our soul music voyage... it's phase one. ha ha.

What image do you think / hope your music conveys?
We hope it's everyman's music. We hope not to exclude anyone, we hope everyone feels welcomed.

In five years time the band will be…
hopefully still having a blast playing every night.

OFF THE STAGE
What was your first introduction to music that made you think seriously about playing it?

I heard Bob Dylan's "Just Like A Woman" in the car while driving home from a paper route I had with my mother when I was about 12 years old. It was January and freezing cold, and I heard that song come on, and it changed everything for me, it spoke in a language I'd never heard before, in my language.

Tell us three albums you couldn't live without in your collection
1. Bruce Springsteen - Greetings From Asbury Park
2. Bob Dylan - Greatest Hits Vol. 2
3. Sam Cooke - The Man and His Music

Best piece of musical advice you've been given
Stay true, and remember it's a gift, it doesn't come from you and you have no right to be cocky.

Two groups/artists you'd love to take out on the road
The Constantines
The Cold War Kids

Favourite song of your group?
I really like Say I Won't (Recognize)

The thing you most look forward to just before a tour is
Playing every night.

The thing you least look forward to before a tour is
Driving.

When your not doing band related stuff, what are you usually found doing?
Working on Amplifiers, and writing songs.

ON THE STAGE / ROAD
What gear do you use?

I use Fender '52 RI Telecasters, a Fulltone Tape Echo, and a custom built amp that I built.

Favourite place (city/town/country) you've toured… and why?
I really like Chicago, but I also LOVE California, just because of the weather...it's beautiful.

Your manager calls and says the venue you are about to play really wants to keep you happy, what's the first thing you chuck on the rider?
Coca Cola in cans. Seriously.

RIGHT NOW
What's getting the most spins in your stereo right now?

Buddy Guy - It Feels Like Rain

Tell us a band or artist everyone should check out and why…
The Constantines

If you could change one thing about the music industry today, what would it be?
I would force people to be honest, and wear their intentions on a bright neon sign above their head.

As soon as I've finished answering these questions I'm about to…
go measure voltages in a new amplifeir I built! haha
