THE BAND
What’s the story behind the band name?

It’s just a dumb joke, nothing worth talking about.

When did the band begin and how did it come about?
2001. we had all been friends, and in other bands. Cory and dave decided to start “jammin’” together and asked me to play drums. After that we got matt bayles on keyboard, and I had been hanging out with jake a lot at the time, and thought he’d be the perfect match to the songs we’d been writing.

How would you describe your sound to the average Joe on the street?
I have no idea.

What’s your current release? Tell us a little about it…
Planet of ice. It’s our 3rd full album, and by far my favorite

What image do you think / hope your music conveys?
I have no idea, it’s not something I really even think about.

In five years time the band will be…
No clue. Most of the time I don’t even know where we’ll be tomorrow.

OFF THE STAGE
What was your first introduction to music that made you think seriously about playing it?

My brother that is 4 years older, played me a kiss record when I was very young and I knew I wanted to play music.

What was your first band name and what style did you play?
I don’t really remember the exact band, but I think we were called “scp” pretty much an awful punk rock band.

Tell us three albums you couldn’t live without in your collection
Talib kweli & dj hi tek. Revolver by the beatles and low end theory by a tribe called quest.

Best piece of musical advice you’ve been given
Don’t over think everything.

Two groups/artists you’d love to take out on the road
Night canopy and the coup

Favourite song of your group?
White mystery

The thing you most look forward to just before a tour is
Being in my bed

The thing you least look forward to before a tour is
Packing/practicing

When your not doing band related stuff, what are you usually found doing?
Watching hiphop videos on my couch.

ON THE STAGE / ROAD
What gear do you use?

A vitsa lite drum kit

Favourite place (city/town/country) you’ve toured… and why?
Probably spain. It’s such a nice beautiful place, great food great people great weather.

The best show you’ve ever played was… and why?
Too many to name

Who hogs the stereo in the van the most?
r.Kelly double up

After a week in the van/bus on tour which band member will have the messiest section, and what would we most likely find stashed there?

Jake. Just everything from his bags everywhere.

Who in your group has the worst “bad habit” on tour, and what is it?
Probably my chain smoking.

Most embarrassing moment on tour?
Getting so drunk before a show in Eugene Oregon that I could barley play. I was falling into my drums as I was setting them up. OUCH!

Your manager calls and says the venue you are about to play really wants to keep you happy, what’s the first thing you chuck on the rider?
Weed… Or maybe more whiskey.

RIGHT NOW
What’s getting the most spins in your stereo right now?

r.Kelly double up

Tell us a band or artist everyone should check out and why…
These arms are snakes. Some very creative stuff going on there.

If you could change one thing about the music industry today, what would it be?
I’d have less bands that sound exactly the same.

As soon as I’ve finished answering these questions I’m about to…
Finish watching planet of the apes in the van.
