THE BAND
How long has the band been going? The band formed back when
I was a freshman in high school. I met Bryan in band class and we
randomly met Patrick through a friend.
Many lineup changes along the way? Yeah we’ve
had some line up changes. Early on, we went through a couple singers
before finding Brad. We also use to have a keyboard player about 3
years ago and about a year or two ago we lost a guitar player. The
band has been through some turmoil
How would you describe your sound to the average person on
the street? I normally say we’re an edgy pop-punk band.
We got catchy hooks w/ pop-punk break downs. I say we’re a lot
of fun!
What's your most recent release? Tell us a little about it...
Our most recent release is “What We Left Behind”
it came out on May 25th on Epitaph / Running Man Records. The record
is about everything that we’ve been through in the past year
or so as a band. We’ve had people quit on us, people telling
us we can’t succeed, etc. We pretty much wrote about how all
those things are wrong and we will do what we set out to do.
Got a favourite track that you have released so far?
It’s probably cliché to say, but I enjoy our whole record
a lot. I don’t necessarily have a favorite. They’re all
fun to play to me.
OFF THE STAGE
What was your first introduction to music that made you think seriously
about playing it? This is going to sound lame, but…
The reason I play the drums is because of the band Hanson. I first
heard of them when I was 9 years old. I noticed the drummer was relatively
close to my age. He was playing the drums and I thought, “hey
if he can do it, so can I!”. They were my favorite band at the
time and I was pretty influenced by them.
What was your first band name, and what style did you play?
My first real band w/ other musicians was actually this band, Veara.
Before we had a name though, we use to play covers in my garage.
Most prized music related item you own? Definitely
my drum kit. I love it.
The thing you most look forward to just before a tour is...
Getting to go out to eat w/ my family before we leave for tour is
always fun!
The thing you least look forward to before a tour is... I
miss my family, dogs, and friends a lot. So I always start to think
about how I’m gonna miss them while I’m gone. Packing
is also a pain.
When your not doing band related stuff, what are you usually
found doing? I like to hang out w/ my family, friends, and
my dogs. Also, all of us in the band love to watch wrestling. We get
together on Monday Nights w/ friends to watch Monday Night Raw.
ON THE STAGE / ROAD
Best rider item you've ever received without requesting it?
I don’t know if there is a “best”. I always enjoy
it if we get some Pepsi. It’s my favorite drink!
Favourite place (city/town/country) you’ve toured…
and why? Other than the U.S., we’ve been to Canada.
Montreal was a lot of fun! It was so different than the U.S. I enjoyed
hanging out there a lot. In the U.S. I really enjoyed playing The
Nokia Theatre in Times Square in NY. It was a lot of fun.
Most memorable show you've played? and why? Any show
on “Toursick” was memorable. That tour was so much fun.
We were out w/ A Day To Remember, August Burns Red, Silverstein, and
Enter Shikari.
Worst 'guilty pleasure' artist / song you've come across on
a bandmates iPod? Haha, honestly if anyone has “guilty
pleasures” on their Ipod, it’s probably me. I listen to
EVERYTHING. Whether it be pop-punk, hardcore, pop, country, hip-hop,
etc. I got it on my Ipod.
Who in your group has the worst “bad habit” on
tour, and what is it? Bryan our bass player thinks that we’ve
been places that we haven’t ever been to. We’ll be driving
through a city that we’ve never been to and he’ll say
we’ve been there before. It’s not really “bad”.
It’s more funny than anything, haha.
RIGHT NOW
Where are you? Right now I’m sitting in my living room
at my house in good ol’ Evans, GA!
What's the last song you listened to? I believe the
last song I listened to was Roller Coaster by Blink 182
Which band or album is currently rockin' your world?
I’m really into Constellations by August Burns Red right now.
Tell us a band we should all go and listen to right now?
Go listen to a band called All Your Friends Are Dead. |
