THE BAND
What’s the story behind the band name?
'Bout 6 years ago at Sydney Casino there was a fight between the bouncers and a guy that made all the news and that inspired the name.

When did the band begin and how did it come about?
2002 , I had been playing in trad rockabilly bands for years and touring 50's shows and got sick of the same old 12 bar progressions , so put a band together mixing all the things i wanted in it , originally we had a 3 piece horn section and a percussionist but culled down to a 5 piece which is what ya see today.

How would you describe your sound to the average Joe on the street?
Good fast'n'hard , rock'n'roll

What’s your current release? Tell us a little about it…
We have a limited edition e.p out at the moment self titled. It was a big step for the band as we have new members and have got a bit heavier in our sound, so it was a taste of whats to come with the new sound.

What image do you think / hope your music conveys?
Street level no bullshit ways, no make-up and no guaranteed hard-core/emo crowds, we work hard for our music and to get it out to people that wanna hear it.

In five years time the band will be…
overseas , here , overseas here , ya get the drift

OFF THE STAGE
What was your first introduction to music that made you think seriously about playing it?

I grew up playing and listening to music, my house never had a silent moment , my dad played for a couple of pretty famous english bands when he was young too.

What was your first band name and what style did you play?
I was in a few school death metal bands, and punk bands, first serious was called ivory chile, mix of punk and old rock sound.

Tell us three albums you couldn’t live without in your collection
Voodoo Glow Skulls / Baile De Los Locos
Rancid / And Out Come The Wolves
Reverend Horton Heat / Liquor In The Front

Best piece of musical advice you’ve been given
I have been misled most the way and worked this shithole of an industry myself .

Two groups/artists you’d love to take out on the road
Rancid

Favourite song of your group?
25 years

The thing you most look forward to just before a tour is
Getting sleep in

The thing you least look forward to before a tour is
Getting packed, never enough shirts

When your not doing band related stuff, what are you usually found doing?
I tattoo fulltime, so i am always too busy

ON THE STAGE / ROAD
What gear do you use?
I use my sydney bass shop custom double bass, ampeg head and 15" box and a hartke 4 x 10" with horn box too.

Favourite place (city/town/country) you’ve toured… and why?
Germany, they love Aussies so ya have got it made before ya even get there

The best show you’ve ever played was… and why?
Our tour with the Misfits, cos we had a new album and did most of this country to massive crowds.

Who hogs the stereo in the van the most?
Me, cos i own the fucking van

After a week in the van/bus on tour which band member will have the messiest section, and what would we most likely find stashed there?
Rob (trombone), substances we shouldn't talk about ha ha.

Who in your group has the worst “bad habit” on tour, and what is it?
Our old trumpet player had the worst , he was an anoying c*#t thats why he has been kicked out, he disappeared every stop and ate when nobody else ate.

Most embarrassing moment on tour?
When i fell off of my bass and broke my leg and ended up in canberra hospital.

Give us a good quick ‘on the road’ story, funny, embarrassing, memorable, whatever…
When we toured with the meteors last November, we only did half of the tour because they were complete assholes and wouldn't pay the band so we had to pull out of the tour half way, we just could not afford to keep going . They fucked themselves up though, because they were using all of our instruments. so they ended up with shit gear, ha ha, suck shit Paul Fenech. Hopefully he dies in a nasty accident.

Your manager calls and says the venue you are about to play really wants to keep you happy, what’s the first thing you chuck on the rider?
It's australia, anything bar VB.

RIGHT NOW
What’s getting the most spins in your stereo right now?

Roger Miret and The Disasters, Rancid, Mad Sin, Demented Are Go

Tell us a band or artist everyone should check out and why…
Checkered Fist, they are 11, 13 and 14 years of age and are a kick ass psychobilly/punk band

If you could change one thing about the music industry today, what would it be?
Dont get me started, fuck emo shit off and give hard working good quality bands a better chance .

As soon as I’ve finished answering these questions I’m about to…
Have a shit , then paint my double bass as a zombie.
