REVIVAL TOUR AUSTRALIA
Founded by Chuck Ragan, the singer / songwriter / guitarist
and Hot Water Music co-frontman, THE REVIVAL TOUR
is set to launch in Australia from April 22 in Brisbane and
wrap May 1 in Hobart.
Drawing from a diverse group of established musicians in indie
Americana, rock, punk, Irish folk, THE REVIVAL TOUR
will take the band of traveling musicians throughout Australia
including Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne
and Hobart. In traditional revival fashion, once the music starts,
this new guard of young, genre-defying, musicians keep it rolling,
teaming in and out through each others’ sets until the
final farewell of the night.
The Revival Australian Tour will include: Chuck Ragan
(of Hot Water Music), Frank Turner, Tim
Barry (of Avail) and Ben Nichols (of
Lucero), with additional musicians Jon Gaunt
and Todd Beene.
“As artists we go on tour together and then in the
final days of the tour--after everyone is familiar with one
another--you’re playing songs with your tour-mates and
having a blast,” states founder Chuck Ragan. “I
thought, why can’t we get together, rehearse before the
tour starts and perform together during the entire tour?”
Ragan says of his inspiration for THE REVIVAL TOUR.
“Some of our set for that night’s show is chosen
in advance, but everything else evolves organically onstage,”
he elaborates. “It’s truly one of the most special
tours I’ve ever been a part of.”

CHUCK
RAGAN

|| www.myspace.com/chuckragan
---------------------
“You go on a tour for two months and the last three
days of the whole tour you’re playing songs together and
having a blast. Why can’t we get together and rehearse
before the tour starts and do that from the beginning?”
Ragan explains when asked where he got inspiration for the Revival
Tour.
Chuck Ragan is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist.
From 1993 until 2006 he was one of the lead singers for Gainesville,
Florida-based punk rock band Hot Water Music. The group disbanded
on good terms in 2006, and the other three members went on to
form punk band The Draft, while Ragan launched a solo career
playing folk music similar in tone to a former acoustic Hot
Water Music side project called Rumbleseat. He has since released
a series of 7-inches on No Idea Records, and a live album and
a studio album on Side One Dummy Records.
Last seen on Australian shores on a solo tour with Against Me!
frontman Tom Gabel last year, Chuck returns, with his Revival
Tour buddies by his side.

FRANK
TURNER

|| www.myspace.com/frankturner
---------------------
For three long and often lonely years of life on the road, playing
a brand of honest and passionate folk/punk, Frank Turner continued
to rise to prominence with an ever increasing following. But
it was in the sweaty climes of the Lock Up Stage at Reading
and Leeds 2008 that his solo career really started to take off.
Inside the packed out tents, heaving with adoring fans and intrigued
passers-by, Frank led the congregation in a mass sing-a-long;
a stirring set that not only sparked the interest of the British
mainstream but resonated unassumingly across the pond as a wealth
of American punk bands watched approvingly from the sidelines.
With the signing to Epitaph and the re-release of 'Love Ire
& Song', and last years 'Poetry Of The Deed', 2009 was the
year everyone fell in love with Frank. Now, finally we can catch
him in the flesh.
No stranger to the Revival Tour, Frank has toured with all the
other acts on the tour before, so the cogs will be well and
truly oiled when he lands in Australia for the first time, a
legion of fans are already chomping at the bit in anticipation.

TIM
BARRY

|| www.myspace.com/timbarryrva
---------------------
At a time when most of his contemporaries from the underground
music scene have slowed down, quit playing, or found steady
9-to-5s, Tim Barry finds himself more immersed in music than
ever. “I could stay at home and make a lot more money
working at the Richmond Ballet, but I wouldn’t feel fulfilled,”
he says.
Tim has been a staple on the Revival Tour so far, he is about
to release his brand new album '28th & Stonewall' via Suburban
Home Records. This third full-length recording as a solo artist
builds on the sound that’s garnered him a small but dedicated
following over the past few years, weaving together folk, low-fi
country, and classic rock. If you ask Barry, he’ll tell
you he just got together with friends in his hometown of Richmond,
Virginia and put down a bunch of fresh songs with some real
talented musicians. He thinks the tunes are pretty good.
Whether you know him from this solo career, or perhaps as frontman
of Avail, you'll know we're in for something special when he
makes his debut Australian solo on this Revival Tour. |

BEN
NICHOLS
www.luceromusic.com
|| www.myspace.com/lucero
---------------------
Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Ben Nichols is the frontman
for the Memphis alt-country band Lucero. Lucero formed in the
late '90s and the band has released a half-dozen or so albums
since 2001, each drawing praise for the group's gritty, rootsy,
and almost punk approach to country-rock and for Nichols' smoky,
emotional vocal style.
During breaks from Lucero, Nichols began recording more acoustic-based
material, and an EP featuring a stripped-down trio of Nichols
on acoustic guitar, Rick Steff (Cat Power) on accordion and
piano, and Todd Beene (Glossary) on pedal steel and electric
guitar appeared under Nichols' name in 2009 from Liberty &
Lament Records. Titled The Last Pale Light in the West, the
EP's seven songs are all based on characters and situations
drawn from Cormac McCarthy's novel Blood Meridian.
Also a regular on the Revival Tour so far, catch a mix of solo
material and no doubt a little Lucero too when he hits Australia
on this stellar lineup. |
