THE BAND
How did the band first come to exist? Our guitarist Paul and I were in a band called Prayer For Cleansing. We decided to end that band and start a new band. The goal was to create a band that had no boundaries when it came to writing heavy music.
How long has the band been going? Around 11 years.
Any particular story behind the name? It is actually from a Counting Crows song ‘Ghost Train’. Basically Paul and I were sitting around looking through various lyric books and came across that phrase. We felt it connected well with our music.
What’s your most recent release? Tell us a little about it… ‘The Parallax II: Future Sequence’. It is the second part of a two part story. It’s the most ambitious piece of music we have every written! 72 minutes of pure chaos and beauty… I guess. I’m bad at writing that kind of shit.
Got a personal stand out achievement of your band to date? For me it’s our newest record. I’m very proud of what we’ve accomplished with this release.

OFF THE STAGE
Any particular band / album or song that you personally credit as a major influence? For me it was probably Motley Crue. Once I heard their records it was over. I knew what i wanted to do. From there it was a constant search for more bands I loved. I’m still that way to this day.
Your first band name, and what style did you play? First band was called Soul Integrity. We played metallic hardcore.
Most prized music related item you own? I have a limited emperor box set that really makes me happy.
When you’re not doing band related stuff, what are you usually found doing? Spending time with my girlfriend and child. They are perfect humans.
The thing you most look forward to just before a tour is… Getting done with tour.
The thing you least look forward to before a tour is… Leaving home.

ON THE STAGE
When on offer, what’s your one must have item on the rider? Water, then towel. I’m boring.
Favourite place you’ve toured… and why? Japan. It’s very unique and the people there are always so stoked to hear us play.
Most memorable show you’ve played? and why? Mexico City with Dream Theater. It was in front of 10,000 people and I was scared shitless!
Got a favourite song to play live? Fossil Genera: A Feed From Cloud Mountain
Any embarrassing on stage moments come to mind? I’ve fallen a handful of times. I’m very clumsy.
Any pre-show rituals? Just vocal warm ups and stretching. I’m weird about my water being room temperature too.
What do you find is the hardest aspect of touring in a band today? So much competition now. Too many bands. Makes it hard to tour.

RIGHT NOW
Last song you listened to? Wintersun – ‘Time’
Last album you acquired? Anaal Nathrakh – ‘Vanitas’. Haven’t listened yet.
Which band or album is currently on high rotation? Muse – ‘The 2nd Law’
Tell us an up and coming band or artist you think we should go and listen to right now? All Human. Its Adam from Fear Before The March Of Flames solo record. Weird, in a good way.
What’s on the cards for the next few months for the band? We are finishing up Europe right now, then Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Off for a couple of months then touring the states. Other than that just living our lives.

IF ONLY…
You can pick any one album for your band to cover in full, what would it be and why? Queen – ‘A Night At The Opera’. Would be so impossibly hard, but I like a good challenge.
You can pick any one band / artist to cover one of your albums in full, what would it be, and why? James Taylor. That would be funny.
One band you wish you were able to see live but never had the chance? Queen and Pink Floyd.
One venue you have yet to play that you would love to? The moon.
The chance comes up to fill in for a member of a band for one tour, which band would it be, and why? Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode. I just want to twirl a mic stand above my head.
A headline tour overseas comes up, tell us two bands you’d take along to support your band. Raddlevank and Thedustiewaring
