THE BAND
How did the band first come to exist? Fuck…I’m Dead came into existence from an uncontrollable urge to play some ridiculously fast yet catchy and melodic grindcore.
How long has the band been going? 12 years, an extremely lazy 12 years that is.
Any particular story behind the name? We just somehow came up with that phrase, and found it amusing and highly suitable for the type of musical journey we were about to embark on.
What’s your most recent release? Tell us a little about it… Our long overdue second album “Another Gory Mess” in about to be released just in time for Bastardfest. Its taken a long time to put it all together and its currently in the final stages of mixing and mastering. It’ll be 21 brand new songs, written over the last 8 years or so, and its our first release with Xavier Irvine on second guitar and a human on drums, Darren Condy, replacing the drum machine.
Got a personal stand out achievement of your band to date? Our North American tour in 2009 was my personal favorite, and the chance to play one of the biggest death metal /grindcore festivals “Maryland Deathfest” as part of the month long tour.

OFF THE STAGE
What was your first introduction to music that made you think seriously about playing it? I think listening to Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson as a kid. I remember thinking how heavy Lou Reed was hahaha.
Your first band name, and what style did you play? Insomnia, and it was extremely shonky deathmetal.
Most prized music related item you own? My Caparison Dellinger HGS guitar that I specifically flew to Japan to purchase.
When you’re not doing band related stuff, what are you usually found doing? When I’m not doing Fuck…I’m Dead related stuff I’m usually working on new music for The Day Everything Became Nothing, another grindcore band at the opposite end of the grindcore spectrum to Fuck…I’m Dead.
The thing you most look forward to just before a tour is… Just as you leave home and everything is organized, and if it isn’t…there is nothing more you can do about it!
The thing you least look forward to before a tour is… Probably being away from home, or potentially sleeping on someone’s spew covered floor.

ON THE STAGE
When on offer, what’s your one must have item on the rider? A bunch of red bulls, and some kind of hip beer.
Favourite place you’ve toured… and why? North America, the opportunity to play in another country to people that actually know your music is amazing!
Most memorable show you’ve played? and why? Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore, USA because it was absolutely packed and we were playing alongside heaps of international bands that I was a huge fan of!
Got a favourite song to play live? Grave Desecrator
Any embarrassing on stage moments come to mind? We played a support slot for Hate Eternal a very long time ago at the Espy in Melbourne, it was the worst show ever, back in the day when we had a drum machine. Jay (vocals) fell backwards down some stairs and was concussed for our show, Tom (bass) basically had no distortion at all, my guitar case conveniently locked itself so I had to break it in half to get my guitar out and to top it all off the PA half blew so we had absolutely no foldback which, in our case with a drum machine with no stage sound meant it was impossible to play properly..fuck!
Any pre-show rituals? No
What do you find is the hardest aspect of touring in a band today? Organiding decent agreements to make it possible to tour and not go totally broke trying to get there.

RIGHT NOW
Last song you listened to? Battle Against Time by Wintersun
Last album you acquired? Exhumed – All Guts, No Glory
Which band or album is currently on high rotation? I – Between Two Worlds
Tell us an up and coming band or artist you think we should go and listen to right now? My other band The Day Everything Became Nothing which also has Xavier Irvine (FID guitar) on bass, for some absolute bag tattering goregrind!
What’s on the cards for the next few months for the band? Finalising the new album “Another Gory Mess” and playing a bunch of the BastardFest shows around the country.

IF ONLY…
You can pick any one album for your band to cover in full, what would it be and why? KLF – The White Room because it would be an amazing achievement to do a grindcore version of that awesome record!
You can pick any one band / artist to cover one of your albums in full, what would it be, and why? KLF again, imagine hearing some thumping dance versions of Anal Abattoir and Inebriated Excrement Exit
One band you wish you were able to see live but never had the chance? KLF
One venue you have yet to play that you would love to? Any grindcore venue in Japan.
A headline tour overseas comes up, tell us two bands you’d take along to support your band. It would have to be two of my favourite bands, Ghoul and Cock And Ball Torture. I would otherwise select Sonata Arctica but they wouldn’t really fit in with the line up.
