Lucero’s new album ‘Women & Work‘ has been given a local release date of March 16th via ATO / Shock Records. ‘Women & Work‘ is a love letter from the band to its hometown in Tennessee. “Having a band in Memphis puts you in a tradition,” says frontman Ben Nichols. “We started at punk rock shows, not necessarily playing punk rock, but coming from the outside, from a bohemian place.” ‘Women & Work’ will be Lucero’s 8th studio album in their 14 year career. “We’re more comfortable in our own skin as a band, more comfortable acknowledging regional influences,” says bassist John Stubblefield. “We wound up making a Memphis country soul record.“. 11 tracks make up the album, and once again the band was joined by Memphis horn legends Jim Spake (Solomon Burke, Ray Charles) and Scott Thompson (Al Green, Cat Power) in the studio. It was recorded at Ardent Studios in Memphis, and produced by Ted Hutt (The Gaslight Anthem). If you are yet to check it out, a full live set from the band’s recent Australian tour can be found on the Moshcam site [Here]. It includes a couple of the tracks from the album.
