A BIT ABOUT IT (What they say)
The songs on The Skeleton’s… hark back to a time when rock n’ roll would tear your face off and leave you stinking in the gutter, covered in trash and hopefully with good friends. The Sydney four piece has stuffed their proverbial hog with all manner of surprises – it’s not just blood and bone rock n’ roll, swamp stomping blues and an orgasmic headache that the boys have created, you also get orchestral chain gangs, tech metal ability delivered with swamp n’ roll swagger and one hell of a story.
A BIT ABOUT IT (What We Say)
You’ve heard about their live show, seen their videos, probably tuned into their podcast, we’ll now it’s time to add their debut album to your collection. For a band that puts as much into the visual side of things as they do the sound in the live setting, they also do just that on record, this album is as impressive looking as it is sounding. It doesn’t take long from pressing play to coming to the conclusion that you are going to love the shit out of this, or just not get it. You won’t hate it though, i’ll give you that much. Their sound is about as unique as you’ll find these days, laced with a shitload of fun. There is no following a formula, no two songs sound the same, and your mind has no time to drift away, because you are constantly hit by something different. Refreshing indeed. In it’s own unique way, this one is actually pretty damn infectious. There is no point even trying to describe the sound in detail, because you’ll never hit the right pigeonhole (unless you find one labelled Gay Paris), as I said, you are going to love it, or just plain not get it. Pretty sure there will be more people taking up the first of those two options. It’s been a long build up to the album, lots of live shows, plenty of them selling out too, and now this album is here, Gay Paris is a name you will be hearing plenty more about. Probably the most fun / fresh album I’ve heard this year. Chops? They’ve got a truckload of them. Get on board.
