Into the business end of the countdown of my Top 20 Releases of 2010, and coming in at #5 is Richmond, Virginia’s Tim Barry and his album ‘28th & Stonewall‘ which was released via Suburban Home Records just in time for his slot on the Revival Tour earlier in the year where he delivered by favourite live performance of the year. The album, just as good as his live show features plenty of good honest singalong tracks and earns it’s spot in my top 5 for the year. Click below to expand this post and find out more about it.

A BIT ABOUT IT
Here as part of the Revival Tour earlier this year, Tim Barry delivered hands down my favourite live performance of the year. The timing was right as this album had just been released in time for the tour, so there was enough time to get familiar, and get down with the many singalongs that took place. Tim is a story teller, with the talent to put those stories into song, and deliver them with genuine passion. Once you watch him live, no matter what song it is, when listening on CD you can just picture him as the song plays, the live passion will never leave your mind. Songs like ‘Prosser’s Gabriel’, ‘Bus Driver’, and ‘Walk 500 Miles’ are perfect examples of this. The album is full of folk-country-acoustic gems. Works in any environment, but best listened to closely where you can get the most out of each song. It’s hard to pluck out particular songs as favourites, because they all have a certain charm about them, and the whole genuine vibe makes it hard to pick on anything. The music style may not be up everyone’s alley, but once you get wind of the lyrics and vibe about it, I do think it’s a sound that anyone can really enjoy. Definitely a must have album, and i’m sure if you caught him live, you’ll have it, and if you didn’t, you should be kicking yourself. It’s a cracker of an album, from a top notch performer / singer / songwriter, you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone more genuine.

FAVOURITE TRACKS
‘Prosser’s Gabriel’, ‘Moving On Blue, ‘Bus Driver’, ‘Walk 500 Miles’ and pretty much every other track.
