Whisk and Key Records have announced the newest addition to their roster: Mount Defiance.

Mount Defiance have been making waves in Melbourne over the last few years, releasing their debut EP ‘Learning Derby‘ in 2016 and its follow-up ‘Yankee Flat‘ in 2017.

They pride themselves on the ability to “spin yarns to make listeners both happy and sad“; singer Ed Tripodi delivers complex and memorable lyrics over the band’s Indie-Punk backing.

To celebrate, Mount Defiance have released their first single on the label, ‘Hospital Gown‘.

Recorded at Homestead Studios in Mount Helen, Victoria (described by the band as paradise), the band say;

the song is about getting optimistically carried away inside your own head. Hoping for the best and expecting the best to pay you back in turn. It’s also about being worried that your oblivious optimism somehow hospitalised someone you care about.

It is available digitally now via Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music and all good digital retailers.
