Melbourne four-piece, Slowly Slowly have released their new album, ‘St. Leonards‘ – and commenced their headline tour to launch it.

The latest single to come from the album, out now on UNFD is ‘Ten Leaf Clover‘.

This song is about searching for true connection in an age where it seems so hard to find. It’s a modern-day love story — Romeo & Juliet, but with the internet. It was initially inspired by my friend Anna Jay’s voice, I heard her sing and could hear this little duet brewing in my head. I threw a bunch of experiences of my own and of my closest friends into a mixing pot to try and detail the difficulties of remaining honest and hopeful in what can be a pretty demoralising quest. I came up with the video concept while running and listening to the song, I had my arms out wide kind of moving them like I was a kid pretending to be a plane and I was like, roller skates. Yes. roller skates. We reached out to Nicole Slovak to be in the clip after seeing some of her amazing performances – she had this sense of grace and sadness, a considered confidence that was really captivating. It all came together way too easily.

Slowly Slowly’s second album – is a vivid snapshot of the life of Ben Stewart and those closest to him.

Lyrically dense yet restrained instrumentally to allow room for striking imagery and vibrant metaphors, Stewart veers between stream-of-consciousness accounts of futile existence in the city to rich narratives about love, life and the family cornerstone at St. Leonards beach.

St. Leonards‘ was captured by the band themselves in their home of Melbourne. Aside from some early drum recording assistance from Joel Taylor at The Black Lodge Studio, in true DIY spirit, the album was entirely co-produced, recorded and mixed by Alex Quayle (bass) and Stewart.

Slowly Slowly have come a long way since their unlikely beginnings in a label machine factory the Outer Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Since then, they’ve recruited two more members – Patrick Murphy (drums) and Albert Doan (guitar) – dropped their revered debut album, ‘Chamomile‘, and hit stages across the country with the likes of Citizen, Sorority Noise and Something For Kate, going on to sell out their own headline shows. The band have also appeared at Beyond the Valley and Party in the Paddock festivals.
