Cat Heaven’s first release, ‘Living Room‘, captures the magical gloom of domestic experience through their energetic post punk, flipping between calm and despair like a faulty light switch.

The band features members of Mere Women, No Art, Hira Hira and Nice Guys, it will also be the first release from new label Nightcrawlers Sydney.

Trischelle Roberts’ raw yet plaintive vocals bounce off the ceiling, brittle rage backed by her throbbing, chorus-heavy bass. Sinewy and unpredictable, guitar lines from Matt Saliba simultaneously channel the gothy overtones of Rowland S Howard and Sonic Youth-esque noodling. They race against Mac Archibald’s emphatic drums with an impatience and insistence that recalls Chameleons-era post punk.

The release was recorded with Jay Whalley at the Pet Food Factory, mixed by Whalley and Clem Bennett, mastered by Mikey Young.
