Flightless Records have announced the release of the new single from Melbourne’s Amyl and The Sniffers.

Recorded at Flightless HQ by Joey Walker (King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard), ‘Cup of Destiny‘ is the first glimpse from Amyl’s forthcoming debut album. It showcases the band at their mangy best, in two hot minutes of snarling rock and roll.

Amyl and The Sniffers have joined the Flightless roster following an epic climb into the spotlight — out of their lounge room, up through Melbourne’s sticky carpet rock scene and onto the national stage.

Amy Taylor (vocals), Bryce Wilson (drums) and Declan Martens (guitar) founded the band in their share house in early 2016. They wrote a handful of tunes and released their debut EP, ‘Giddy Up‘, all in a span of twelve hours. Gus Romer came on board to play bass shortly afterward and Amyl and the Sniffers took its current shape: a grimy four-piece taking its cues from a diverse mix of genres including pub rock, Aussie punk, country and western and rap rave. The band set out to have as much fun as possible and scared up a whole lot of fans along the way.

Their second EP, ‘Big Attraction‘, was released by cult US label Burger Records in February 2017, kicking off a stellar year. Growing buzz made them a hot tip at Bigsound, and they were added to cult Victorian festival line-ups including Meredith Music Festival, Cherry Rock and Boogie Festival. In November, the band joined the Cosmic Psychos on a national tour before capping things off with a sell-out NYE show at The Tote.

2018 kicked off with a bang, with the band invited to support Foo Fighters on a leg of their Australian tour. In late January, ‘Giddy Up‘ / ‘Big Attraction‘ was re-released on vinyl, selling out the first pressing in preorders.

With a growing fanbase in the UK, the band has been invited to showcase The Great Escape festival in May, followed by headline shows in London that are already selling fast.
While all of this was going down, they took to the studio with Joey Walker in to lay down the first tracks for their debut album.

Cup of Destiny‘ is the first cab off the rank, with the full longplayer due out later this year.
