News Bits & Pieces

DIKEMBE RELEASE A REMIXED PICTURE DISC EDITION OF ‘CHICAGO BOWLS’
Dikembe have just released a remixed edition of their debut EP ‘Chicago Bowls‘.

Available as a free download on Bandcamp, and physically on a 12″ Picture Disc, you can give it a listen below.

This album was finally remixed to sound decent and have the samples in it. David did a great job remixing it for the picture disc release. I heard guitar parts and vocals that I didn’t even know were in the songs before. So that’s cool.

You can pick up one of the picture disc 12″s [Here].

MACHINE HEAD SHARE NEW VIDEO CLIP
Machine Head will release their new album ‘Catharsis‘ on January 26 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment.

The band has released the official music video for the album’s title track which you can check out below.

‘Catharsis’ was a tricky concept to translate to a visual. How do you express somebody’s catharsis? Frasier, the director, brought up the Butoh dance concept and it tied in so well into the idea of what catharsis could be. And when the Butoh dancers began performing for the video, we were blown away. Their expressions were so pained, almost horrifying, and yet very sad, it was extremely moving.

The other side of the video recounts the experiences of mental asylum patients. Oftentimes, in the ’50s and ’60s, people went through traumatic and regrettable experiences, and those vivid photos still linger today.

On a personal level, I related to this aspect. My uncle Jimmy lived with us for years while growing up. He had experienced some pretty severe drug testing when he was younger and didn’t come out of it very well. For the rest of his life, he would do things like not eat for seven days straight and talk to Jesus all day. It was a trip to grow up with that at home. So, we took these disparate elements and turned them into a very cinematic and psychedelic visual to express that.

AMERICAN LIONS SHARE NEW MUSIC
New Jersey’s American Lions have premiered ‘Can’t Wait / Angry Little Man‘ off their upcoming debut LP, ‘Serf Rock‘.

American Lions is a rock and roll band hailing from New Brunswick, NJ. Deeply rooted in the DIY community, the band began in August 2013. Other than releasing two EPs, the band has built a reliable local backbone, a passionate live show, and incredible quality recordings.

The band headed back to The Panda Studios in January 2016 to record their first full-length album. Produced and mixed by Sam Pura (TSSF/Basement/Hundredth), the album shows a wide variety of emotions, sounds and styles. The LP will be out in January 2018.
