News Bits & Pieces

VERGE COLLECTION JOIN RHUBARB RECORDS
Verge Collection have inked a deal with Rhubarb Records to release their debut album ‘Flaneur‘ on Friday 30th March.

The album is available for pre-order now via the Rhubarb Records site [Here] in deluxe, coloured vinyl along with some limited edition merch packs.

Produced by the same team responsible for their 2016 effort, ‘Our Place‘, ‘Flaneur‘ features ten new tracks including ‘For The Story‘ and the brand new single ‘So Vain‘.

Coming in at just shy of two minutes, ‘So Vain‘ is a rollicking little number that can be streamed below.

2017 has already been a massive year for the band, sharing stages with the likes of The Wombats, Skegss, Hockey Dad & Bleeding Knees Club, plus selling out all shows on their first ever national headline tour.

GLASSJAW RELEASE NEW TRACK ‘SHIRA’
Glassjaw are about to release their new, and first album in fifteen years, ‘Material Control‘.

Speculation grew when a mysterious pre-order of the album was briefly visible online and then suddenly gone. Word of the pre-order quickly spread across Reddit, Twitter and various music blogs and websites. Fans began to cautiously believe that, indeed, a third album would drop soon. Glassjaw, notoriously tight-lipped, fuelled more speculation when fans across the globe began to randomly receive mysterious postal service packages from the band. The packages included thousands of postcards sent to express the band’s gratitude to the dedicated fanbase who have waited patiently for new music for over a decade. These ‘thank you’ postcards double as playable vinyl of each new track from ‘Material Control‘.

Listen to the track ‘Shira‘ below. The album is out Friday via Red Music / Sony Music Australia.

The band are of course returning to Australia in January for shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. Re-cap dates and venues below.

LONG DISTANCE CALLING ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM
German instrumental rock powerhouse Long Distance Calling have announced the release of their sixth studio album ‘Boundless‘ for February 2nd.

Following the release of two albums that saw the band exploring the addition of vocals to their sound, the band have gone back to basics and created a purely instrumental record.

The band comments:

We are happy to announce our new album ‘Boundless’ which will see the light of day on February 2nd 2018. This time around the four of us locked ourselves in a room over a couple of months and pretty much got back to where we started as a band to catch this “go with the flow” feeling. This is probably the purest LDC album ever, no guests, no vocals, all instrumental. We’re stoked how it turned out and this album got a lot of energy, heaviness, melodies and twists, we hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Watch a teaser for the album, revealing the artwork and a snippet of new music below.

CAVALERA CONSPIRACY – ‘SPECTRAL WAR’
The brand new album ‘Psychosis‘ by Cavalera Conspiracy was released on Napalm Records this month, and the band recently shared a music video for the track ‘Spectral War‘.

You can check it out below along with a stream of the album.

It is available on CD [Here] and Vinyl [Here].

Max Cavalera commented;

Our new video ‘Spectral War’ was directed by the great tattoo artist, Paul Booth. It focuses on the idea of manipulating war through the ages! I’m very excited for the release of ‘Psychosis!’ Death/Thrash Metal is back to set the world on fire!!!

LOOBS – ‘DANDELION’ VIDEO CLIP
LOOBS are four friends (Alex, Jim, Kelly and Josh), who play indie-garage-pop, for the simple joy of making music.

Having recently been welcomed into the Poison City family of bands, the Melbourne recently dished up the first taste of their upcoming debut album – due early 2018.

The new single, ‘Dandelion‘ is a punchy three minute indie gem that melds surf-rock and early 90’s slacker guitars with garage psych overtones. The track centres around our fears of growing up; the well trodden journey from young idealist attitudes, to falling madly in love before somehow stumbling head long into capitalist oblivion.

A video clip for the track has now been released, and you can check it out below.

After the reissue of their first two EP’s onto cassette, the band headed down Victoria’s western coast to a holiday shack in Anglesea to record their first full length LP. Recorded & mixed by Matt Chow and mastered by Nao Anzai, the single and forthcoming album perfectly captures the band’s energy.
