News Bits & Pieces

Sydney doom outfit Hypergiant will release their debut album ‘Father Sky‘ tomorrow.

In anticipation of the full length the band recently shared a video for the opening track ‘Perseus Arm‘ which can be viewed below.

The album can be pre-ordered, and two more tracks streamed on Bandcamp [Here].

In early 2014 the band released their self-produced debut EP, ‘Planetcracker‘, to glowing reviews from the underground music press. One common theme presented itself in these reviews: “We want to hear more.” Armed with this mandate, the band set their sights on writing their first full-length, entering the studio in 2016 to lay the foundations of ‘Father Sky‘.

Recorded and mixed by Clayton Segelov (Full of Hell, Adrift for Days, Sleepmakeswaves) at The Brain Studios and mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, High on Fire, Converge), ‘Father Sky‘ is an ambitious and eclectic slab that sees the band traverse sonic ground ranging from throbbing stoner metal to crushing sludge to swirling, hazy space rock, with every shade of heavy in between.

They head out on tour this month to launch it live, dates below.

18th – Marrickville Bowling Club, Marrickville [18+]

KEN mode have premiered their new track, ‘Fractures in Adults‘ via the Flexi series of US magazine Decibel, which is also making it available as a physical collector’s item flexi-disk with a limited number of print copies.

The Canadian post-hardcore outfit has written and recorded this new song during the pre-production for their next full-length.

You can listen to ‘Fractures in Adults‘ below.

Enter Shikari keep their feet firmly on the ground as they go into space in the video for new single ‘The Sights‘.

The track is taken from their latest album, ‘The Spark‘ out now through Play It Again Sam. You can purchase the album [Here].

London-based and British / Icelandic born punk rock trio Dream Wife have announced their self-titled debut album is due for release on January 26th, and alongside that announcement, they have shared a music video for the record’s first single – ‘Let’s Make Out‘.

The band’s celebratory ode to femme sexuality and consent, was directed by frequent collaborator Aidan Zamiri and sees the Wives hosting their very own prom.

‘Let’s Make Out’ is a light hearted celebration of sexuality. Women are and have a right to be sexual beings. The video is silly, hedonistic and really fun. There is no shame in sexuality, there is no shame in fun. But remember; consent is key.
Proms are synonymous with coming of age, a necessary social before graduation. We threw an ‘in real life’ prom at our recent London show to announce our album and the night ended with much of the cast from the video making out and dancing with us on stage. Prom in many ways represents us coming of age as a band and we’re hoping to usher in this new era; dancing, making out, making things with our friends and flipping the script every step of the way.

Renowned for their live show, Dream Wife will make their Australian live debut as part of Laneway Festival next year, as well as sideshows in Sydney at Lansdowne Hotel on February 6th and The Tote in Melbourne on February 7th.

Brisbane’s As Paradise Falls have revealed a new music video for their latest single, ‘Captive to the Creation‘.

Directed by Colin B Cadell, the video features Clint Curtis (Down Royale) on guest vocals, and was filmed at Crowbar in Brisbane.

Filming the video in a live environment was always something we wanted to do for this song. It’s a challenge because everything is spontaneous, and anything can happen. The idea of the clip is to represent a glimpse of what can be expected from a live As Paradise Falls show. It captures the energy of the band on stage fully immersed into our craft.

Watch it below.

The band will also be supporting Miss May I at The Triffid in Brisbane next Monday 20th November. Also on the bill are Sylar, and Justice for the Damned. This will be the last show for As Paradise Falls in 2017, as they begin writing new material for their next album.
