BONG MOUNTAIN FULL AUSTRALIAN TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED
Billing themselves as “not a stoner rock band“, Michigan’s Bong Mountain are a band that are gaining plenty of traction after cutting their teeth in basements across the US and Canada. Their debut album ‘You’re Doing Great‘ saw Australian release earlier this year through Whisk & Key Records.

Hot off an appearance at this year’s FEST in Gainesville, Florida, they will be bringing their high-energy mix of Punk Rock & emotion to Australian shores for the first time this November.

Bong Mountain will be joined by the enigmatic “squash man”: The Eradicator. Those of you who love sing-along choruses and hate ball sports (except squash) will fall in love with this band fronted by a character from Canadian 90s sketch-comedy show ‘Kids in the Hall‘.

CONVERGE SHARE ‘REPTILIAN’ FROM NEW ALBUM
Today marks the release of ‘Reptilian‘, the new single from Boston-based heavy-music innovators Converge. The track appears on their forthcoming album, ‘The Dusk In Us‘, set for release via Epitaph and Deathwish on November 3rd.

From its haunting intro to its frenetic apex, ‘Reptilian‘ perfectly embodies the avant-garde sensibilities and cathartic energy of ‘The Dusk In Us‘.

The album will be the ninth full-length for the band and their first album in five years. Pre-orders are available [Here].

MORE SIMPSONS TRIBUTES FROM DAN CRIBB TO COME
After taking his punk rock Simpsons tribute album to Brisbane earlier this month for a live show during Bigsound, Dan Cribb has announced the project will go into next year as a handful more guests sign on.

This month’s song, ‘Drop Da Bomb (Yvan Eht Nioj)‘ featuring The StiffysJason Leigh on guest vocal duties, marks 12 songs on Cribb’sWorst Tribute Ever‘ release, which includes cameos from members of Luca Brasi, Ball Park Music, Polish Club and more.

The initial plan was to release 12 songs in as many months, but he has since signed on more exciting guests, meaning what was going to be the finale is now a mid-way point, with favourites ‘Monorail‘, ‘See My Vest‘, ‘Kwik-E-Mart‘ and more still to be released.

Drop Da Bomb‘ is taken from season 12 episode New Kids On The Blecch, and is performed by Bart, Milhouse, Nelson and Ralph as Party Posse.

Given that Jason has spent most of his musical career dressed as a sailor, there was really no other song he could do. I met Jason back in 2013 when I was playing bass in David Liebe Hart’s (Tim & Eric) band around Australia and The Stiffys were supporting. They sing about important things like kickflips and champagne, which is an interesting contrast to his soaring rock vocals, and why his appearance on Worst Tribute Ever worked so well.

JAMES ALEX TO RELEASE QUIET SLANG EP
After his band established themselves as one of the most exciting new voices of rock in 2016, Beach Slang’s James Alex has now announced he’s ready to show fans a new side of his music with the release of his new Quiet Slang EP, ‘We Were Babies & We Were Dirtbags‘ – out October 20th via Dew Process.

The EP was announced with a cover of his own song ‘Bad Art & Weirdo Ideas‘ from Beach Slang’s breakout album ‘The Things We Do To Find People Who Feel Like Us‘ indicating the tender and intimate nature of this special new project that features Alex playing solo with a contributing pianist and cellist.

Give it a listen below.

MENTAL CAVITY TO RELEASE ALBUM NEXT MONTH
Mental Cavity is a thundering four piece that is getting straight to the point. Risen from the slumber of Canberra’s reigning hardcore punk / sludge metal band I Exist, Mental Cavity hits with far more nuance, grime, and brutality than its predecessor.

With their first and self-titled record having been quietly let into the yard in January of 2017, the band was soon recording its follow up with the huge and organic tones of producer Mike Deslandes (High Tension, The Nation Blue, Colossvs). Leaner and meaner, ‘Aneurysm‘ shoves twelves tracks into its half hour, and pits grough melodies and breakneck speed against glorious thrash riffs, flourishes of death metal, and bong-ripping stoner throwbacks.

Aneurysm‘ is due for release worldwide via EVP Recordings on October 27th.

Listen to the first single ‘Bleak Outlook‘ below. Album pre-orders are available on Bandcamp [Here].
