MUSKETS RELEASE NEW SINGLE
Brighton UK’s grunge/emo band Muskets have premiered a new song ‘Chewing Gum‘.

Muskets found their birth in Brighton, UK where they quickly engaged in the city’s always-growing music scene. Here, they connected with like-minded peers who held a shared DIY ethos and influence of grunge, punk and emo sounds, such as Broadbay, The New Tusk and Water Canvas. With these names the band put touring and weekenders in throughout 2014, supported by their ‘Pollyseed‘ EP on cassette released through Wake and Don’t Shoot The Messenger.

The following year saw the band change up a gear, putting out a six-track affair titled ‘Spin‘ and released via Venn Records which led to UK outings alongside the likes of the more established Moose Blood and Creeper.

Expect a full length later in the year via No Sleep Records. Listen to the new single below.

COLD READING SHARE NEW VIDEO CLIP
Switzerland based Emo / Indie band Cold Reading have released a video for their new single ‘Books & Comfort‘ taken from their forthcoming ‘Sojourner‘ EP due out September 22nd via Krod Records.

Taking influences from bands such as Brand New, Thrice and From Indian Lakes, ‘Books & Comfort‘ is an offering of the vehement kind; showcasing a band with a passion for profound lyrics and an earnest yet unpredictable blend of timbres.

Vocalist Mike Portmann explains the singles origins:

The song is about the deep desire to slip in another body and be somebody else. Sometimes you wake up and feel like all your problems can be solved by running away. But as a matter of fact, this is just an illusion. Eventually, it all comes down to learning how to deal with your weaknesses and fears and trying to change them into something good in order to find comfort.

In 2016 the band released their debut album ‘Fractures & Fragments‘ via Flix Records. The release has seen the band touring all over Europe and the UK supporting bands like Such Gold, Little You Little Me, The Deadnotes and opening for the likes of Four Year Strong, The Hotelier, The Flatliners and The Get Up Kids.

Listen to the new single below.

SWHAT RELEASE NEW ALBUM THIS WEEK
Ballarat three piece SWHAT have just released their second album ‘Wasty Tasty‘ via Heart Of The Rat Records.

Wasty Tasty‘ picks up where their 10″ ‘Down In Tango Zulu‘ left off, offering up 12 tracks of relentless punk assault and condemnation of the modern dystopian landscape with paranoid humour, a catchy hook and heavy hardcore riffing.

The album was recorded by Loki Lockwood with cover art by Brenden Rowe of Spacejunk fame.

You can pick up a copy on limited edition 180g Black & Pink Vinyl [Here].

To launch the album, the band head out on tour this month, kicking off tonight in Melbourne. Dates and venues along with a stream of the album below.

BLACK STONE CHERRY TO RELEASE NEW EP
On the heels of their well-received 2016 album ‘Kentucky‘, US rock band Black Stone Cherry have announced the release of a 6-song EP, ‘Black To Blues‘ – a collection of blues classics and obscurities reimagined with the meaty moxie of classic BSC.

I know it’s crazy for four rock n’ roll dudes to make a blues EP, but it’s us sharing with everyone the music that’s been our DNA from day one.

Black To Blues‘ pays homage to the fertile 1960s era of electric blues where the masters pushed boundaries with both experimentation and volume. The EP includes songs made famous by the likes ofHowlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, Freddie King, and Albert King.

Pre-orders for the release which will be available September 29th are available [Here].
