THE SLOW DEATH RELEASE NEW ALBUM
The third LP from The Slow Death from Minneapolis sees just as much booze-soaked heartbreak and distant hope as ‘Born Ugly Got Worse‘ and ‘No Heaven‘”.

The record is a perfect mix of angst and aggression with the subtle emotion and melody that make these miscreants so damn catchy and lovable. Think Stiff Little Fingers meet Negative Approach. Or Lemmy meets The Lemonheads.

Available now on Rad Girlfriend Records, you can stream / purchase the album below.

MARK STEWART JOINS DAN CRIBB FOR ‘TALKIN’ SOFTBALL’
If you were looking for an episode to best sum up Perth singer Dan Cribb’s year-long punk rock tribute to The Simpsons, season three classic Homer At The Bat would do a good job.

Much like Mr. Burns hiring professional baseball players to make his softball team shine, Cribb has been enlisting talented musicians from across the country to make ‘Worst Tribute Ever‘ one hell of a listen.

The next addition to the fast-growing tribute is ‘Talkin’ Softball‘ – a parody of Terry Cashman’sTalkin’ Baseball‘ – from that same iconic episode, with Cribb enlisting Melbourne rocker Mark Stewart (Jonesez, Horsell Common) as this month’s guest vocalist.

Listen to it, plus all the previous tracks below.

DEAD OF WINTER FEST ABOUT TO SELL OUT
Brisbane’s Dead of Winter Festival is about to hoist up the Sold Out sign.

A mainstay on the Queensland heavy music calendar since 2009, Dead of Winter unleashed a mega-bill this Saturday featuring the likes of The Bennies, Whoretopsy, The Meanies, Dallas Frasca, Truth Corroded, Hollow World, Black Rheno and loads more.

The horror-themed alt-culture event, will drop 50+ acts across five stages this Saturday at the Jubilee Hotel for one super large day of riffery. A short run of hard tickets will be allocated early at the venue for punters keen to come and get amongst the action. Doors will open at 12.30pm with the first round of acts to kick off at 1.00pm. Be smart and grab one online [Here] rather than take the risk.

Never simply a music event, the fest will host the sword-swallowing, fire breathing, nail-hammering talent of acts such as Heart and Dagger along with Burlesque performances by the likes of Lillian Lace and Lilith Revere. Zombie make-over booth, horror films, food trucks and night markets will round out what will no doubt be one of the most entertaining days of the Brisbane calendar.

ARKIVE SHARE NEW SINGLE
Melbourne’s Arkive have released a new track ‘Acquiescence‘.

The track features a guest appearance from Marcel Gadacz of Dream On, Dreamer and is the first single from Arkive’s upcoming EP ‘Sonder‘.

Vocalist Mitch Burgess said;

We are entering a whole new era for us. This new song and EP signals new sounds for us and we were over the moon to get Marcel from Dream On, Dreamer on this song. We are seriously excited about the future of Arkive!

The track and the EP were both recorded between bedrooms in Melbourne with touches completed in Oakland Studios by Beau McKee and Jamie Marinos, then mixed and mastered by Lance Prenc.

Take a listen below.

MY ECHO CALL IT A DAY
Melbourne’s My Echo have decided to call time on the band. Over the years together they’ve shared stages with a number of their influences and covered every corner of the country countless times.

Brenton from the band comments;

My Echo has been a great outlet for me personally. I’ve been cynical of the scene, written songs about love and loss and the good times in between. I’ve never been great at expressing myself outside of rock and roll so it’s something I’m unashamedly devastated about losing.

Next month they will kick off a run of farewell shows, one of the hometown dates has already sold out, so don’t snooze on tickets for the second show if you want in.
