How did the band first come to exist? My last band Bellusira ended in Los Angeles, and so I continued working on my own material all through 2016, I was sleeping on the floor and couches of friends houses in LA, homeless for a few months whilst I was writing.
How long has the band been going? I launched this project under my name in February of this year
Is there an interesting story behind the name? It’s my actual name, after 14 years in bands I am now pushing my own brand, and I am loving it! 😉
What’s your most recent release? Tell us a little about it… I am about to launch my debut single, ‘Everything You Break’ which features Ben Moody on guitar (Ex- Evanescence and co-writer of their debut album). It’s a tragic love song about the pain of breaking up, deception and realising your worth – it’s something I think we can all relate to.
Got a personal stand out achievement of your band to date? Featuring Ben Moody on this single has to be a major highlight, others were supporting Hellyeah, Seether, Halestorm, The Misfits, signing a management deal with Will Hunt (Evanescence) with my last project, Bellusira. I have been blessed with a lot of awesome experiences, too many to name here, but it came from a lot of hard work as well.

What was your first introduction to music that made you think seriously about playing it? There was a point in my life where I had nothing, I am a survivor of horrific abuse of every kind and I came to a point where I was very suicidal. Singing was the only thing that made me feel again, it brought joy to my body and gave me a reason to live. Now I live for music. Music healed me, at first I gravitated towards heavy and angry music, and writing my feelings and expressing them onstage to song was the most cathartic experience any creative person can take part in. Music literally healed me and after years and years and hundreds upon hundreds of songs, I started to no longer feel the pain or anger any more, and from that point, I because very passionate about wanting to help and heal others because I saw first hand how magical music really is and I just wanted everyone to feel as free as what I now did.
Any band, album, or song that you personally credit as a major influence? Michael Jackson – ‘Dangerous’, Nirvana – ‘Nevermind’, Florence and The Machine – ‘Lungs’, Evanescence – ‘Fallen’, The Weeknd – ‘Beauty Behind The Madness’.
Your first band name, and what style did you play? Fallacy, Metal/Nu-metal
Most prized music related item you own? My ACS customs molded in ears, really missing them on tour as they are in the states right now.
When you’re not doing band related stuff, what are you usually found doing? I am really passionate about food and cooking, I am a bit of a foodie and food snob, just really love quality, I am also really passionate about Crystal Healing, I love snowboarding, reading and nothing beats netflix with my girlfriend. I love downtime, because when you are touring, you really don’t get much of it. Moreso touring in the States and overseas in general.
The thing you most look forward to just before a tour is… The HypE!
The thing you least look forward to before a tour is… All of the office work I have to do ugh!
Any item you seem to always forget to take on tour? Merch tin! And Sharpies! bloody hell.

When on offer, what’s your one must have item on the rider? WATER! And can we get some 420 on that bad boy? Common Australia, its legal most places in the States now!
Got a favourite place you’ve toured, and why? Has to be USA, the whole experience is epic, you literally play 5-6 nights a week – such an amazing journey.
Got a favourite venue you’ve played, and why? Probably has to be the Forum. 2000 faces screaming back at you, was absolutely epic!
Any embarrassing on stage moments come to mind? Oh god, when you are as energetic as I am on stage, this is inevitable. Bellusira ‘Connection’ album launch, I fell off our cat walk at the Espy Gershwin Room, but like, I was rocking out hard, stepped forward to find there was no floor and just fell off, my good mate Bonnie caught me, and I just got right back up and kept rocking, I had literally forgotten it happened when the show finished because the show must go on, so when something like that happens, I don’t get embarrassed, it’s just rocknroll. The crazier the show is the better.
Any pre-show rituals? I work with my crystals before a show, I try not to talk before a show to save my voice, so I try and hide in the band room pre show as much as possible and sometimes, I meditate.
What do you find is the hardest aspect of touring in a band today? The costs are tough. People who burn a band’s music should make up for it by buying extra merch. You will really help a band this way, in my opinion, if you don’t reimburse the band by buying merch you wouldn’t have purchased already, you are stealing and part of destroying the music scene. Think about it and be responsible, you make or break us.

Last song you listened to? Kate Bush – Running Up That Hill
Last album you picked up? Hmm I last purchased Tracy Chapman’s self titled album as I was covering revolution for our last acoustic gig.
Which band or album is currently on high rotation? The Weeknd, I am obsessed with this dude.
What’s on the cards for the next few months for the band? We will finish our tour schedule (hitting up Newcastle on 21st April, Central Coast 22nd, Sydney 23rd then Mt Gambier 28th and Adelaide 29th then Melbourne 6th at Workers Club and 12 at Sooki Lounge) then we will be recording the rest of the EP, in both Australia and the US! My publicity team will also be doing a world-wide premiere of the new single in a few weeks and I will head back to the States to live again and push this dream harder than ever before! I am so excited!

You can pick any one album for your band to cover in full, what would it be and why? It would be pretty cool to do a female fronted rendition of Nevermind
You can pick any one band / artist to cover one of your albums in full, what would it be, and why? The Weeknd, I love his melodies so much, I would love to hear how he changed my vocals into his style.
One band you wish you were able to see live but never had the chance? Nirvana. No brainer there.
One venue you have yet to play that you would love to? Wembley stadium, Hollywood Bowl would be awesome too. My goals are high and I won’t stop until they are achieved.
The chance comes up to fill in for a member of a band for one tour, which band would it be, and why? Oh this is really tough because I don’t think anyone wants a singer to step in for another band, no one can fill the shoes of the original singer in my opinion. But in saying that, it would be fun to fill in and sing in Nothing More. Really dig those guys and the vocal melodies Johnny writes.
A headline tour overseas comes up, tell us two bands you’d take along to support your band. I think it would be really fun to tour overseas with the Tequila Mockingbyrd chicks, I’d really love to tour with Letters from the Fire overseas, the drummer is a buddy of mine and past your family, they are a killer band so I think it would be a lot of fun.
