A fortnight ago, Chicago’s Into It. Over It. announced their debut Australian visit with a run of intimate solo shows along the East Coast. Now, they’re sharing a brand new video for their single ‘No EQ‘ from their critically acclaimed third album ‘Standards‘, released earlier this on Triple Crown Records.

The video follows a cavalcade of characters and the adventures that ensue as they don identikit, mail-order Evan Weiss outfits. Each package contains everything you’d ever need to be the very best Chicagoan indie-rock linchpin you can possibly be: flannel shirt no matter what the weather? Check! Thick-rimmed glasses? Double-check! Fake tattoo sleeve? you’d better believe it!

It features a number of Weiss’ local friends, who all pitched in to create the wonderful weirdness it turned into.

Speaking of the video, Weiss says:

My friends in Chicago rallied around to create a beautiful (and weird in all my favourite ways) music video,” before going on to call it “a buffalo plaid nightmare.

Into It. Over It. is the musical namesake of prolific indie rocker, Evan Weiss. For the past decade, Weiss has been relentlessly touring and writing. His emotive vocal, earnest lyrics, and prolific abilities have earned Into It. Over It. cult-rock hero status throughout North America and beyond. Though, it wasn’t until their second album, 2013’s ‘Intersections‘, that Into It. Over It. rose to widespread prominence and saw them play, Lollapalooza, Riot Fest and Summerfest to name a few.

Their latest release, 2016’s ‘Standards‘, recorded and produced by John Vanderslice (Spoon, Mountain Goats, Death Cab For Cutie), is where we find Weiss striking a fine balance between tightly woven riffs and propulsive song writing.

Into It. Over It. will be joined by special guests, Jess Locke in Melbourne and Zzzounds in both, Sydney and Melbourne. For those not so familiar, Zzzounds is the solo project of Dave Drayton (Milhouse, Between The Devil & The Deep, Pinch Hitters). Drayton has been steadily zeroing in on his bedroom project, producing pun heavy, self-satirical tracks with warmth and rebellion. While Melbourne’s Jess Locke has been building her reputation for understated, yet intense live shows. Drawing comparisons to Cat Power and Elliott Smith, Locke oscillates between simplicity and complexity.
